Regular visitors to Tenerife and residents will know that the island is rich in culture and there is so much that lies beyond the beaches of Tenerife.

We thought we’d take a peek at some of the best upcoming events in Tenerife’s calendar over the next month to give you a small taste of what the island has to offer…

Every Saturday up to the 18th December Vineyards throw open their doors (and their bottles!) to ‘La guagua del vino 2010’, the wine bus! Its a very enjoyable way to taste the local wines and not have to worry about how to get home!

There are some great perfomances and visiting artists every year at the Tenerife Opera Festival and the fantastic auditorium is a great place to experience them. This year there’s a packed program including "Falstaff" and "Madame Butterfly", by Verdi and Puccini. Runs until October 22.

Nibble and sip your way along one of the Tapas routes where restaurants provide a drink and tapa for €2.50.  Each restaurant serves its very best tapa and of course, there’s a winner at the end.  Tapas routes operate around the island at different times throughout the year.

A fascinating exhibition of Spanish portraiture from the 16th Cetury to the 20th from Madrid’s famous Museo del Prado, including works by Tiziano, Antonio Moro, El Greco, Velázquez, Goya and Sorolla, among others. A chronological review of an historic age of Spanish art, the portrait from 16th century to the first years of the 20th. Runs until January 8th.

The best Canary Islands folk bands will meet in Arona. Canarias Folk Fest is visiting Los Cristianos, Las Galletas and Las Americas each week from the end of October until April 14, 2011.
