Area Info

Once a small, traditional fishing village, Los Cristianos has grown over 40 years to become one of the most popular tourist resorts in the Canary Islands.  At its heart is a bustling port from which ferries, fishing boats, yachts and excursion vessels come and go throughout the day.

The town itself has retained some of its original architecture in the centre, around the old church square.  This pedestrianised area is popular with tourists and residents alike as they hunt for bargains amongst the many bazaars and shops, spoilt for choice by the enormous range of restaurants.  Cafés spill out onto these lanes and it’s a perfect place to sip a relaxed drink and watch the world go by.  It’s also the perfect place to find an original Bolex watch, Adibas T shirt, or Goochi sunglasses for just a few Euros.

There is a popular beach in town, beside the harbour, and the sandy beaches of Las Vistas extend towards Las Américas, lined by a promenade that continues all along the coast as far as El Duque, several kilometres away.

Despite all the growth, the town still retains a Canarian character, and there is a large local population living here.  Over the years development and building have merged the older town of Los Cristianos with the glitzy Las Américas, and together the two form a substantial holiday city.
