you really shouldn’t have
to think about it for too long.
Over the years the various of Cultures and Religions in Tenerife have made their mark, and led to a mixture of new traditions.
Stylish Christmas Trees, lights and decorations can be found across the island, and give a wonderfully festive feel to the areas.
As well as the more modern traditions, Tenerife holds true to some of the more traditional followings.
The Nativity
Tenerife has many deeply routed traditions, and non so much as The Nativity.
You will find a mixture of traditional Christmas Decor wherever you go, and Christmas Trees galore, but one of Tenerife’s most deeply routed tradition is The Nativity. As well as in peoples houses, you will find Nativity displays in bars, restaurants, shops, parks, even in the centre of roundabouts. And most towns will have stunning exhibitions representing the local tradition and culture.
The 3 Kings
Every year on 5th January the 3 Kings of the Orient; Melchior, Gaspar & Balthasar, parade around the cities on camels …. or floats.
In some areas, Adeje for example, they even arrive by helicopter, greeted by hundreds of adoring children waiting to receive gifts, sweets and blessings for the forthcoming year!
Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair
The annual Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair is organised by the Canarian Authorities, and alternates between the islands. 2019 will be hosted by Tenerife from 4th December to 8th December, in the Recinto Ferial, Santa Cruz.
With a vast range of traditional products on offer, 150 stalls offer food and drink, hand crafted leather, pottery, woodwork, as well as jewellery, lacework, and much more. A great day out to hunt for Christmas gifts.

Say NO to the gloomy Winter weather!
Winter 2020
With the summer coming to an end, the dreary winter weather setting in, and the woolly jumpers, wellies, and waterproofs coming out ………
don’t just sit there in the dark and damp weather,
do something about it!
Get yourself over to Tenerife,
the Island of Eternal Spring!
With Tenerife’s year-round warm climate, it is known as the Caribbean of Europe.
and the perfect winter destination.
Tenerife is more than just bars and restaurants, which we have in abundance,
see below just a few of the reasons to visit our charming island.
We have award winning sun soaked beaches,
boasting either the natural black volcanic sand native to the island,
or white sand imported from the Sahara desert on the man-made coves ………
Our crowning glory Mount Teide, at 3,718 metres, is the highest point in Spanish territory
and towers over the Canary Islands.
Teide’s peak is visible from most areas of Tenerife,
whether it be rural villages or the sun soaked coastal towns ………
Tenerife’s dramatic coastline is home to the ominous cliffs of Los Gigantes,
being so imposing that until the Spanish Conquest in the XV century they were nicknamed the "Walls of Hell".
Well worth a visit by land or sea ……..
Tenerife’s unique microclimate has led to a very diverse selection of indigenous local flora
including the magical Canary Islands pine trees which regenerate after a forest fire,
our splendid 22 metre high Dragon Tree in Icod de los Vinos, rumoured to be one of the oldest trees in the world,
and not forgetting the magnificent Bird of Paradise flower, a favourite souvenir amongst the islands visitors ……..
The contrasting scenery of this remarkable island is remarkable,
from dry barren moonscapes to lush tropical vegetation,
which would rival anywhere else in the world ……..
and for those who prefer something a bit more tourist related,
done forget our world famous Siam Park (voted Best waterpark by Tripadvisor)
and Loro Parque (repeatedly voted World’s Nº1 Zoo).
If you are thinking of relocating to Tenerife,
to enjoy this beautiful island on a more permanent basis,

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), reports that Spain is one of the safest nations in the world, where the number of murders per inhabitant is an extraordinary four times lower than the average of all developed countries on earth.
The organisation says, people in Spain are ‘feeling much safer’ and ‘more satisfied with their lives’, perhaps because random attacks on total strangers are extremely rare, and the levels of inner-city knife crime that is seen in the UK are practically unheard of in Spain. The homicide rate was lower than almost every other OECD nation.
According to Spain’s Home Office, statistics in the Canary Islands are even better than Mainland Spain, showing a decrease in more serious crimes, such as murders, sexual assaults, drug trafficking, forced entry with robbery in homes, as well as robberies with violence or intimidation.
Statistics are all well and good, but what about how people actually feel in Tenerife? According to a survey conducted over three years, people in Tenerife rated the worry of crime level, being mugged or robbed, car being stolen, physical attack because of skin colour, ethnic origin, gender or religion, and violent crimes such as assault and armed robbery, as Very Low.
They also rated safety in walking alone during the day as Very High and safety in walking alone at night as High.
So, the main thing is that people feel safe in Tenerife, which encourages them to enjoy a better lifestyle, but it is good to know that statistics show that they are right to feel that way!
People say that we are very lucky, but are we, or did we make our own luck by choosing to live here?

Santa Cruz de Tenerife
FEBRUARY 2019
"Carnaval", the most important fiesta here on the island, some say the second biggest carnival after Rio in Brazil. With many visitors from all over the world, who arrive for the two weeks in February.
History tells us that the Carnaval in Santa Cruz first began in the 16th Century, when the wealthier classes of the island celebrated with dances and parties in the city. In the 19th Century the Carnaval began to evolve, when exhibitions, competitions, and costumes were added and high society women, wore masks, popular at the time, so they were able to mingle without being recognised.
With the arrival of the 20th Century, the Carnaval became evermore popular not only for the locals but also for tourists to the island, who to this day visit in large numbers.
There is a theme chosen each year and the Carnaval is based around this theme. With the city decorated accordingly, the locals will be rushing around in the preceding weeks, choosing their costumes relating to the theme of the Carnaval. In recent years there has been a Caribbean theme, last year we had a Fantasy theme and for 2019 the theme will be Under the Sea.
