Hurricane free CanariesThe trend in buying second homes in Florida and the Carribean by British and Irish purchasers may be suffering a setback due to the recent hurricane damage experienced in the area. This has had a positive knock-on effect on the Tenerife property market, according to analysis from Tenerife Property Shop S.L.
This has had a positive knock-on effect on the Tenerife property market, according to analysis from Tenerife Property Shop S.L. Bruce Grindley, a Director told us, 'As a company with an overview of a large volume of property sales, we are able to conduct such areas of ad hoc research. In a sample of prospective buyers, we discovered that 3% had previously considered the longer flight times to purchase in Western Atlantic property markets, but had been put off by the greater risks from natural disaster.' Tenerife has very stable weather conditions with small annual fluctuations in temperature. Many people who choose the island as a second home do so because of this, as it means they can visit their "place in the sun" at any time in the year. Not only is this in contrast with Florida and the Carribean, but also other destinations on mainland Europe and the Mediterranean. Bruce went on to say, 'Not only can you stay in your second home at any time of the year, but you can also rent it. This has been a major factor in sustaining interest in Tenerife as a good place to buy. Florida and the Carribean struggle to provide a good return on capital growth and the income potential is correspondingly low. Tenerife has no such problems.' |
