Best Spanish Islands Estate Agent

Glamour, style, success, champagne, celebrities and awards ' it all sounds rather like Oscar night.  And there were remarkable similarities as 450 of the biggest stars in 'Propertybiz' from all around the globe gathered under one roof for the most coveted International Property Awards in the business.

Onlookers gathered in excitement outside the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London as the cr'me de la cr'me of the world's property professionals arrived amongst the glitz and the glamour, positively buzzing with anticipation to discover whether or not they had scooped one of the highly prestigious Bentley International Property Awards.

However, behind the gorgeous frocks and broad smiles, there was serious business going on.  Just as an Academy Award is a symbol of the highest achievement on the silver screen, so the International Property Awards demand the greatest respect and admiration in the world of property.

After a sumptuous four-course dinner, rock legend and T.V. personality, Rick Wakeman, took the stage to present the awards in his own inimitable style.  As coincidence would have it, Rick has himself bought a property in the past through Tenerife Property Shop and he was clearly very pleased to be able to present Bruce and Mary with the 'five star' award as 'Best Spanish Islands Estate Agent'.  The judges did not see fit to present any runner-up awards in this special category.

During his speech at the awards, Rick Wakeman referred to the 'wonderful experience' of buying his property in Tenerife, as opposed to the nightmare of buying his most recent home in the UK.

There was more recognition to come for Tenerife when AQA Promotions - Selenium Construct S.L. ' were presented with the major category 'Safe Home' award for the development San Blas Village which is situated in the San Blas Nature Reserve alongside Golf del Sur.  It is interesting to note that Tenerife Property Shop S.L. are the sole managing agents for San Blas Village who together constitute a formidable combination that has received double recognition.

These awards were the culmination of months of deliberation by the judges who are all pre-eminent in their own particular field and between them have a collective knowledge of the property industry that is unsurpassed.  Chaired by Eric Pickles, U.K. Member of Parliament, this year's judges included David Hoppit, former Telegraph property editor; Peter Bolton King, Chief Executive of the National Association of Estate Agents; Paul Bassi, Executive Chairman of Bond Wolfe and regional Chairman of Coutts Bank; Fitzroy Robinson Architects; Paul Wyatt, head of design for Lycos; Helen Shield, editor-in-chief of International Homes and English Homes magazines; the Jack Nicklaus Design Centre, and TV celebrities Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen and Phil Spencer.

There is more to the Property Awards than the mere showmanship of the Academy Awards, where Oscars are presented for outstanding work in an illusory industry where the suspension of belief is the order of the day.

The end products honoured on this night-of-nights were more tangible than cinematic eye-candy, for a beautiful resort like San Blas Village brings pleasure for years to come, not just for the duration of a bucket of popcorn, constituting a legacy rather more substantial than celluloid.

This is the ninth consecutive year that Tenerife Property Shop has been honoured with an award, which is a unique and remarkable achievement that was recognised and admired by all the other recipients and attributed by Bruce and Mary to their loyal and friendly staff.

This new award will sit alongside this top class company's previous awards that they have been honoured with, which include 'Best International Estate Agent', 'Best Spanish Estate Agent', 'Best Property Website' and 'Best Property Advertising'.

A further honour given personally to the two directors of Tenerife Property Shop came from the International Biographical Association of Cambridge in England, which has included their biographies in the Millennium publication entitled 'Outstanding People of the 20th Century'.  Their inclusion is officially for 'An outstanding contribution to International Business Integrity'.

This personal recognition is not for having a successful estate agency, but simply for having honesty and integrity in their business dealings on a local, national and international level ' how reassuring to know that such ethical standards are still recognised in the business world.

The importance of these awards should not be underestimated as they show that true professionalism really does exist in what is a very important economic sector of Tenerife.
