Background

Perfect for golfers or non–golfers alike, Tenerife's ocean front resort of Golf Del Sur offers championship golf, beautiful scenery, great bars and restaurants, lively entertainment or simple peace and tranquillity. Golf Del Sur is part of the municipality of San Miguel de Abona and is built around a 27 hole golf course. The streets are lined with sub-tropical palms and flowering plants which add to the charm of the resort.  There is a commercial centre, CC San Blas, made up of 80 businesses where, shops, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, medical facilities and church can all be found... It's here at CC San Blas that the resort nightlife takes place around the main square. During the day, if you're not out playing golf, you'll find a reasonable selection of souvenir shops, supermarkets, and a selection of restaurants and bars.  The nightlife of Playa De Las Americas is only about 18 euros away by taxi. As well as golf, the resort has tennis courts, gymnasiums, crazy golf, and a bowling green. As a long term objective, the San Miguel de Abona municipal council do plan the creation of an artificial beach in the town.  The fishing village of Los Abrigos and its restaurants are only a 10 minute walk away and the international wind surfing destination of El Medano is also located nearby.

Golf

The spectacular 27 hole golf course is the centrepiece of the town.  There is a well stocked Pro shop and a Golf School on site. This Tenerife golf course, designed by Pepe Gancedo, is a thoroughly enjoyable layout with black volcanic sand in the bunkers, wide fairways lined with a wide variety of indigenous plants, palm trees and giant cactus plants, which give it the impression of an oasis by the sea.

Other golf courses at Las Americas, Adeje and Amarilla are all less than 20 minutes away. For any beginners or those seeking to improve their short game, a good quality par 3 course at Los Palos is only 10 minutes drive.

Property

Golf del Sur is still growing and yet is completely self sufficient. Investors and residents have benefited from excellent capital growth and rental income over the last decade. With new developments under construction and in the planning stages, it is still an ideal moment to secure a holiday apartment or residence here.  Apartments range from budget studios in complexes like Green Park and Terrazas de la Paz, up to magnificent luxury developments, such as El Nautico, located right beside the ocean.  There is also a wide range of villas and chalets.  Buyers can expect more for their money here than areas such as Las Americas and Los Cristianos, in terms of space and facilities.  Rental investors favour the area because it attract year round tourists of a better quality than the main resorts, so their properties tend to have much lower maintenance overheads.

Transport

Golf del Sur is well served by buses running directly to Playa De Las Americas, Los Cristianos, Los Abrigos and Santa Cruz.  Reina Sofia International Airport is only a 10 minute drive away.
